Lennart Mänd – Bindings
The exhibition consists of bookbindings which the artist has created in search of innovative technological solutions. Mänd has ignored traditions and rules to produce new quality, but not at the expense of functionality. Several of the solutions and innovative methods can be applied in the production of limited edition books, or adapted for this purpose. The artist's work builds on the principle that the material is a means rather than an end in itself, and your limits are where you set them.
Lennart Mänd graduated from the Estonian Academy of Arts with a Master's degree in 1998 and immediately started teaching at the Department of Leather Art in addition to pursuing his own creative activities. He has been a Professor at the Department of Leather Art, Bookbinding and Accessory Design since 2009. Mänd has participated in numerous exhibitions in Estonia and abroad as well as being active as an exhibit designer.
